Welcome to the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (INE PAN)!
In 2010 the Institute celebrated 30 years of its existence and work. The beginning of 80’s was a turbulent time in the history of Poland. At that time the Institute became a shelter to independent-thinking economists and an important think–tank that prepared background, ideas and people that carried out economic and political transformation in Poland. The 90's was a troublesome and difficult period. The Institute underwent serious changes and confirmed its special status in economic research in Poland. Nowadays, it has 40 employees that work in four departments: Microeconomics, Economic Policy, Institutional Economics and World Economy. Some of our scholars and researchers held in the past and hold at present high positions in the Polish Government, Parliament, National Bank of Poland, European Commission and World Bank. Our current scientific research focuses on contemporary economic theory, economic policy, analysis, forecasting and strategic studies concerning the Polish economy, analysis of the world economy and European integration, with a focus on their influence on the development of the Polish economy. It carries out in-depth analyses and forecasts concerning the Polish economy (Report Polish Economy - Forecasts and Opinions) and screens Polish enterprises' economic performance (Pearls of Polish Economy – list of best firms) and their innovativeness (Report on Innovativeness of Polish Economy and The List of 500 Most Innovative Firms in Poland). Among other important activities are conferences and seminars organized by the Institute. During last ten years more than 50 of them have been held. We also encourage everyone to publish in bilingual quarterly “Studia Ekonomiczne - Economic Studies”, a journal with 75 years of history. On international grounds INE PAN is cooperating with leading institutions in various countries, e.g. the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of World Economy of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Université Paris 1. In Poland we nurture ties between other research institutes of Polish academy of Sciences and experts from business and public administration through the efforts of MSN Scientific Network “Impact Assessment of R&D and Innovation on Socio-Economic Development” that INE PAN coordinates. In recent years the Institute has launched several postgraduate and doctoral studies: MBA, Executive MBA, Executive DBA, Ph.D studies, Accounting, Human Resources, Financial Directors and Internal Audit. Together with the National Bank of Poland we have started specialized studies for economic journalists. Therefore, there are many opportunities for candidates who are interested in business, management and economics. You may also use other language versions of this page that are brought to us by Google Translator ( I wish you a pleasant browsing to discover INE PAN's scientific activities.
