ABOUT THE MBA PROGRAM
INE PAN offers an exceptional MBA Program entitled the MBA – Challenges in Emerging Markets. It is carried out as a part-time one-year Master of Business Administration program based on the module system. It provides sound knowledge of fundamental principles of operational management, accounting, finance, marketing, strategic planning, decision-making and human resource management. It also capitalizes on the experience and expertise of Central European scholars and practitioners in the analysis of emerging markets.
We welcome applications from young managers, junior associates, deputy- and vice- directors of various units as well as those without much business experience (or with none whatsoever). Studies at INE PAN will result in boosting your career, gaining extra recognition from your work colleagues, expanding and deepening your understanding of relevant business processes, making friends with other managers and executives, and, perhaps most importantly, making you aware of your unrealized talents and allowing them to alter your life for better.
STRUCTURE OF THE MBA PROGRAM
The MBA Program offered by INE PAN teaches both fundamentals of the art of business and advance courses and case-studies. It lasts one academic year (two semesters) and has flexible part-time schedule.
Being aware of difficulties in combining challenging work with serious studies, INE PAN has come up with a participant-friendly structure of the program, preserving at the same time its valuable and exciting content.
You do not have to quit your job in order to enroll in this Program. You will have to come to Warsaw five times only: four times to complete four modules (duration of each module: 5 days) and the fifth time – for the MBA thesis defense and graduation.
Candidates are accepted before the fall (October – January) and spring (March – June) semesters. Each semester has two modules of lectures and seminars. Participants have an access to the e-learning platform between the modules and are supposed to do their homework before the next module. Altogether there are 160 hours of class activities, about 160 hours of e-learning assignments, and 40 hours of writing a final MBA thesis.
If a candidate is accepted during the summer admissions period and commences his studies in October, he will graduate in June. If he starts in March, i.e. if he is accepted during the winter admissions period, then he defends his thesis and receives his MBA degree in January.
The Program is taught by members of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, and visiting professors and practitioners who have excelled themselves not only in having internationally recognized achievements, but also in passing their knowledge and skills to their students.
The following courses will be offered during the two semesters of studies within our MBA Program:
- Corporate Financial Analysis
- Legal Issues in Business
- Operational and Strategic Controlling
- Economic Forecasting and Crises
- Methods of Project Management
- Marketing Strategies
- Decision Making
- Strategic Management
- Human Resource Management and Public Relations
- Innovation and Knowledge-Based Economy
- Techniques of Negotiations
- Organizational Behavior
- Accounting and Cost-Benefit Analysis
- Academic Writing and Research Methods
Field trips to such distinguished institutions as the National Bank of Poland and the Warsaw Stock Exchange are also part of the program.
INE PAN also runs a special cultural program for MBA delegates. The participation in the cultural program is not obligatory. It is just great fun! The purpose of the cultural program is two-fold. The program introduces the delegates, especially international ones, to the history and cultural heritage of the Polish people. It also serves as a catalyst for helping delegates get to know each other.
In practice a typical module looks like that:
|
Wednesday: AM: delegate arrivals PM: classes, module welcome dinner |
Thursday: classes, Polish language lessons |
Friday: classes, meetings with Ambassadors, Directors of Chambers of Commerce, Polish businessmen, etc. |
Saturday: classes, cultural program (either city bus tour, museum visit, concert, etc.) |
Sunday: classes and departures |
The cultural program will respond to the interests of participants and will feature what most participants find fascinating. What participants will do within the cultural program during a given module will be announced at the module welcome dinner. It is also possible to split the group and organize two parallel cultural events so that everybody goes to what he finds most interesting.
Polish language lessons are not obligatory either, and similar to the cultural program are quite entertaining and instructive. The language tutor’s aim is not only to teach you some basic Polish, but also to open for you the world of Polish cinematography, literature, painting, etc. It is also a great occasion to have a coffee together (coffee, tea, and snacks are served during the classes).
Welcome dinners, cultural program events, and Polish language lessons are bonuses that INE PAN provides you with without charging extra money. We are convinced, however, that they are significant elements of our program and make the latter more rewarding and valuable.
ADMISSIONS AND FEES
If you genuinely seek to earn an MBA degree, speak English, and have a BA degree (not necessarily in economics), you are more than welcome to apply to INE PAN’s MBA Program – Leadership in a Changing World. The admissions procedure is simple and straightforward – just send us through email the following:
- application form (WORD) - filled in and signed;
- copy of your BA diploma together with its transcript (if the diploma is issued in any other language than Polish, English or Russian, certified translation should be provided to any of the above languages);

Once we receive the above documents, we will contact you and inform you when the Admission Committee’s decision will be made regarding your application.
There are two intakes per year. The next admissions deadline is September 21, 2012. All accepted participants will commence their studies in October 2012 and graduate in June 2013.
English Language Requirements The language of instruction on the Executive MBA Program is English. English is also the language of trade negotiations, sales contacts, financial markets and many other business activities across the world. Therefore, candidates are encouraged to have a good command of English in order to actively participate in classes and seminars, discuss with their colleagues, and apply learned skills in their further careers.
No proof of English proficiency is required, however. Once you begin your studies you will be able to use our library with a rich collection of books in English. Also, you will receive an electronic access to databases online. There is no doubt that your command of English would significantly improve before you graduated if it was not already perfect at the beginning.

Accommodation Housing is to be arranged prior to the arrival. INE PAN offers assistance in finding a suitable accommodation solution. As a rule, to stay in Warsaw for the duration of 5-6 days (all modules are of this time-length) one may either get a room in a hotel or rent an apartment. In both cases one has to be prepared to pay about 70 EUR per night.
Costs of Living Warsaw is a remarkably affordable city compared to all other European capitals and cities. A taxi ride from the airport to the centre is about 15 EUR. A room in a good hotel can be had for 70 EUR. A lunch in a restaurant costs 7 EUR. A theater ticket is priced at 20 EUR. A beer in a pub sells for 2 EUR. And a round trip to Cracow by Intercity train (3 hour one way) will cost you only 50 EUR.
Explore Poland Having all your lectures, seminars, dinners and cultural events in Warsaw does not confine you to staying in the capital of Poland only. Spending an extra day in Poland after the end of a module and visiting such great cities as Cracow, Gdansk, Lodz, Poznan, and Wroclaw or the famous Masurian Lakeland, the only European finalist of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, may be a great idea that will bring you plenty unforgettable and exciting impressions.
Poland has mountains in the south and sea beaches in the north. It has wonderful lake areas as well as vast and majestic forests. Everyone may find here what one likes the most. Renting a car and going to see the largest brick castle in the world (Malbork), old Jewish quarters in Lublin, Zakopane resorts in the mountains, or Chopin’s birth place in Zelazowa Wola will give you lasting and thrilling memories and will let you get familiar with the country in an intimate way.
